Growing together.The Technical Lab Specialist is responsible for guiding and overseeing clinical laboratory programs, special projects, and health and safety practices. This role provides expertise in laboratory informatics, application support, and quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This position proactively works across the organization to develop plans to support project goals while ensuring operational success of laboratory program initiatives.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and interpret data input into laboratory section of Practice Health and Safety Assessments (PHSA) and develop action plans to mitigate issues in meeting standardDevelop and update operational instruction and guidance with CLIA application and renewal process for WellMed owned clinics and collaborate with acquisitions and integrations teams to align practicesDevelop and update CLIA certificate management information, tracking resources for accurate and timely submission to meet regulatory standards and meet clinic needsMonitor and assist with management of standard laboratory test menus for waived and moderately complex labsCoordinate and co-facilitate laboratory committee to establish recommendations for new and existing laboratory equipment, POC testing and day to day practicesDevelop and communicate key laboratory metrics between clinic leadership and corporate environment to ensure clear communication, oversight and support related to clinical laboratory practicesDevelop and manage enterprise lab intranet site and ensure up to date relevant laboratory information and tools are available on the siteEstablishes and engages in relations with vendors and assume business ownership when deemed applicableMonitor contract agreements for laboratory equipment, supply and service related itemsCollaborate with applicable entities to create standard lab documentation processesDevelop and manage processes for quality control, collect and review data through middle ware and other laboratory information systems. Partner with clinic leadership and lab staff on oversight of laboratory quality assurance programsCollaborate with the P&P team to develop, provide input on recommendations and periodically review Laboratory related Policy and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)Collaborate with clinic leadership and Education and Training team to create and deliver laboratory related trainingMonitor on-going department implementation and/or decommissioning of laboratory equipment and supply efforts to identify challenges, risks, and defectsPrepares and edits correspondence, communications and presentations for leadership and/or end users. Assists with drafting departmental protocols, procedures, and guidance documentationWorks cross functionally as a key member of the electronic medical record optimization team, including enhancement of clinician and employee experience and ensuring regulatory and safety standards are metPerforms all other related duties as assignedYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Health Science or Medical Laboratory Science or other related fieldCertified or Registered Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician2+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratoryExcellent communication skillsAbility to improve processes, promote excellence and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughnessProficient with computer programs to complete job duties independentlySufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or securityAbility to effectively communicate with others in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principlesLocal and non-local travel as determined by the businessDriver's license and access to reliable transportationPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in laboratory management or health science or laboratory science or other related fieldFamiliar with TJC standards for Waived TestingProject Management skills/experiencePhysical & Mental RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods of timeAbility to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machineryAbility to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writingAbility to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solvingAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment.
