Our team comes from the industry, and our work keeps transportation management, dispatch, billing, maintenance, reporting, and integration systems reliable and available for the fleets that depend on them.What you'll doYou will own day-to-day SQL Server administration for the TMS environments our customers run on, primarily Trimble/TMW Suite along with platforms like McLeod, TruckMate, MercuryGate, and Sylectus. This is hands-on work across multiple customer environments, alongside our application specialists, infrastructure team, software vendors, and other database professionals.This is also a customer-facing support role. When a dispatcher cannot see their loads, billing cannot close the week, or a settlement run stalls, you are one of the people the customer calls. You will pick up tickets, respond quickly, work the problem to resolution, and keep the customer informed the whole way.Customer support and service deliveryRespond to customer-reported database and TMS issues through our ticketing system, email, and phone, within established response and resolution targetsTriage incoming requests, set priority based on business impact, and escalate or pull in the right internal or vendor resources when neededOwn tickets end to end: investigate, communicate status, deliver the fix, confirm with the customer, and document the outcomeProvide Level 2 and Level 3 support for database and TMS-related incidents and service requestsHandle routine customer needs such as data corrections, report requests, user and permission changes, and scheduled maintenance requestsBuild working relationships with customer IT staff, operations leads, and end users so problems get solved faster and trust builds over timeExplain technical issues in plain language to non-technical users and set realistic expectations on timelinesTake part in scheduled maintenance windows and an on-call or after-hours rotation as neededDatabase administrationAdminister and monitor SQL Server instances, databases, Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and related servicesOwn backups, restores, recovery validation, integrity checks, index maintenance, and capacity monitoringHelp with installs, upgrades, migrations, patching, and configuration changesWatch for blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, storage growth, and resource pressure before customers feel themKeep documentation, inventories, support procedures, and change records currentTMS and application supportTroubleshoot database and data issues affecting dispatch, order management, billing, settlements, maintenance, EDI, integrations, and reportingSupport TMS upgrades, testing, release validation, and production deploymentsWork with vendors and internal teams to run down incidents and implement approved fixesFollow change control when correcting production data or applying vendor scriptsPerformance, automation, and integrationReview query plans and tune queries, indexes, stored procedures, views, and scheduled processesRecommend practical performance improvements based on real workloadsBuild and maintain T-SQL and PowerShell scripts for monitoring, validation, and repeatable maintenanceSupport replication, log shipping, Availability Groups, and other HA or data movement technologies as assignedAssist with integrations across EDI, telematics, accounting, reporting, customer portals, fuel systems, and third-party logistics appsSecurity and recoveryManage users, roles, permissions, and service accounts per approved access requirementsFollow security, auditing, backup retention, incident response, and data handling proceduresParticipate in recovery testing and maintain recovery documentationWhat you bringRequired3+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration or closely related database supportWorking knowledge of backup and recovery, security, SQL Server Agent, maintenance, and performance troubleshootingAbility to write, review, and troubleshoot T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and scriptsExperience supporting production business applications on Windows ServerStrong troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational habits with attention to detailAbility to juggle priorities across multiple customer environments and follow change controlClear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical issues to customers and end usersA service mindset: you respond promptly, take ownership of customer problems, and follow through until they are resolvedExperience working in a ticket-driven support environment (MSP, help desk, or application support) with response and resolution targetsPreferredHands-on experience with Trimble/TMW Suite: its SQL Server databases, workflows, upgrades, or integrationsExperience with another TMS such as McLeod, TruckMate, MercuryGate, or another TMSUnderstanding of trucking workflows: dispatch, order entry, brokerage, driver settlements, billing, fleet maintenance, fuel, and EDIExperience with replication, Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, clustering, or DR testingSSRS, SSIS, Power BI, Azure SQL, Azure VMs, or PowerShellFamiliarity with Active Directory, VMware or Hyper-V, storage, networking fundamentals, and Windows Server administrationRelevant Microsoft, Azure, SQL Server, or industry certificationsEducationAn associate's or bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, database administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience, technical training, and demonstrated TMS or SQL Server expertise count just as much.How the role worksThis is a U.S.-based position.
