This role supports secure, high availability database environments that are essential to national security missions.If you thrive in high-impact environments and want to be part of a skilled team shaping critical projects, we’d love to have you on board!In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, performance, security, and reliability of SQL based database systems operating within classified enterprise environments. This position works closely with system administrators, engineers, cybersecurity teams, and government stakeholders to ensure database systems remain stable, secure, and optimized.Primary ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in classified environmentsPerform database monitoring, performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planningManage database backup, recovery, patching, upgrades, and disaster recovery processesImplement and maintain database security controls including roles, permissions, auditing, and access managementTroubleshoot and resolve database related issues impacting system performance, availability, or data integritySupport database deployments, migrations, schema updates, and system integrationsCollaborate with system administrators to ensure proper integration with Windows and UNIX operating systemsSupport Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for database driven applications and servicesMaintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and recovery plansProvide technical updates and recommendations to government and internal stakeholdersOptimize system operations to improve reliability, availability, and performanceQualificationsBachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institutionFive additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degreeTen years of experience supporting IT systems of similar scope, type, and complexityDemonstrated experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise or mission environmentsExperience supporting systems across multiple security classification levelsStrong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practicesAbility to work independently in secure, operational environmentsActive TS SCI security clearanceSpecialized ExperienceExperience supporting SQL databases within classified or regulated environmentsExperience integrating database systems with enterprise infrastructure and applicationsFamiliarity with Windows and UNIX operating systems in support of database hosted systemsExperience collaborating with cybersecurity and network teams to meet compliance requirementsAbout AltusSince 2004, Altus Technology Solutions has been committed to providing top-quality, performance-driven services to both government and commercial clients.
