It's always been beneficial for our campers to have these wonderful experiences but now more than ever having a summer out in nature, disconnected from technology, with joy filled positive connections, traditions and confidence building experiences is so valuable. Counselors and staff play a vital role in creating a magical environment through mentoring, teaching, and organizing memorable all-camp programs. Tapawingo also offers support staff positions and opportunities for paid internships in teaching, social work, and coaching, supported by an experienced leadership team.Role DescriptionAn adventure and learning opportunity like no other! This is a temporary, on-site Summer Camp Counselor role located in Sweden, Maine. As a Camp Counselor, you will lead and supervise activities in your area of expertise, which may include arts and crafts, landsports, horseback riding, theater, outdoor adventure, or waterfront activities. You will guide small groups of campers, ensure their safety and engagement, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. In addition to daily instruction, you will assist with planning and leading evening all-camp programs such as performances, sports tournaments, campfires, and team-building activities. Counselors will also provide mentorship and support to campers in their personal development throughout the summer. Your room and board are covered, as well as a stipend for travel expenses. You will meet colleagues from across the United States and around the world, which will become your lifelong friends! QualificationsExpertise in areas such as arts and crafts, landsports, horseback riding, theater, outdoor adventure, or waterfront activitiesAbility to ensure the safety and well-being of campers while fostering a fun and inclusive environmentStrong leadership and communication skills to supervise and mentor children and teensExperience in teaching, coaching, or overseeing youth activities is preferredEnthusiasm, patience, and a positive attitude toward working with othersFirst aid, CPR certification, or experience in safety-related training is a plusMust be available for the full summer camp season and be prepared to live on-site during the employment term
