Known for their precision and personalized approach, the firm ensures successful placements for roles ranging from CFOs to accounting managers and financial analysts.Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial ReportingPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly analytical Manager of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to lead the company’s efforts around complex accounting interpretation, policy development, and technical documentation. This role will serve as the internal authority on U.S. GAAP and will focus heavily on researching, documenting, and supporting accounting conclusions for non-routine and judgmental areas.In a high-growth SaaS environment, this individual will partner closely with Finance, Legal, FP&A, and executive leadership to ensure that business initiatives are evaluated through an accounting lens early and thoroughly.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Accounting & Memo Leadership (Core Focus)Lead the research, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP for complex and non-routine transactionsPrepare and review technical accounting memos and position papers, including clear documentation of conclusions, alternatives considered, and supporting guidanceServe as the primary reviewer and approver of accounting white papers across the organizationEstablish and maintain a standardized framework for technical memo documentation to support audit readiness and scalabilityAct as the go-to resource for accounting guidance across key areas, including:Equity and stock-based compensation (ASC 718)Business combinations, valuation considerations, and purchase accounting (ASC 805)Leases and embedded lease evaluations (ASC 842)Investments, debt/equity classification, and other complex financial instrumentsCapitalization policies (including software development costs)Provide technical accounting support for strategic initiatives such as M&A, new entity structures, international expansion, and complex commercial arrangements.Review contracts and agreements to identify accounting implications (in coordination with the Rev Rec team where appropriate)Accounting Policy & GovernanceOwn and continuously update the company’s global accounting policies, ensuring alignment with current U.S. GAAP.Monitor emerging accounting guidance and lead implementation of new standards across the organization.Drive consistency in accounting conclusions across business units and geography.Partner with external auditors to proactively align on technical positions and minimize audit riskClose & Financial Reporting Support (Secondary)Guide complex or unusual transactions during the close process.Ensure technical accounting conclusions are accurately reflected in financial results.Support audit processes by delivering well-documented and defensible accounting positions.sAssist in drafting technical disclosures for complex accounting areas (with limited focus on SEC filings)Process Improvement & InfrastructureBuild scalable processes around technical accounting review, documentation, and approval workflowsPartner with Finance Systems to ensure complex accounting treatments are properly configured in ERP systemsStrengthen internal controls related to judgmental accounting areas in a SOX-compliant environmentLeadership & Cross-Functional CollaborationServe as a trusted advisor to senior finance leadership Mentor team members and elevate technical accounting capabilities across the broader accounting organizationPartner cross-functionally with Legal, Corporate Development, Tax, HR, and FP&A on accounting impacts of strategic decisionsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required5+ years of experience with a strong emphasis on technical accounting:Big 4/public accounting experience required (National Office or Transaction Advisory a strong plus)Industry experience in SaaS or high-growth technology environments preferredDemonstrated expertise in writing technical accounting memos and applying U.S. GAAP to complex scenariosStrong knowledge across multiple accounting domains beyond revenue recognitionExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex accounting conceptsProven ability to operate independently and influence decision-making in a fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting M&A transactions, including diligence and integrationExposure to global accounting considerations and multi-entity environmentsExperience in a SOX-compliant organizationFamiliarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday, SAP)Base Salary is 140-165K + Bonus
