Activity Assistant must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English. Previous experience working with elderly or groups, or leadership role (teaching, church groups, community organizations, etc.,) Have a valid drivers license and safe driving record preferred. May not be a debarred provider.REGULATORYCOMPLIANCERequirementsActivity Assistant is required to report any arrest, charge, or conviction of a crime other than a traffic violation, and receipt of notice of any agency investigation or charge, including investigations relating to licensure, certification status, or dependent adult or child abuse within 48 hours and may not perform services pending such report. Failure to report such an arrest, charge, conviction, investigation or similar issue may result in termination.Activity Assistant must understand the nature of resident care and resident rights and comply with these requirements at all times.An Activity Assistant who reasonably believes a dependent adult has suffered dependent adult abuse is required to report suspected abuse to the Director of Nursing within twenty-four (24) hours.During the course of employment an Activity Assistant is also required to report any information that may impact patient/resident care, including, but not limited to, violations of resident rights and HIPAA violations to his/her supervisor or the Executive Director.CONTINUINGEDUCATIONRequirementActivity Assistant is required to complete annual 12-hour in-service training programs. Failure to complete the 12-hour in-service training program, or any other requirement under internal policies, local, state or federal law may result in termination.Work ExperienceBasic understanding and a genuine interest in the care of the geriatric resident required. Previous health-related experience is preferred, but not required. Extensive on-the-job training is provided.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesSupport Pleasantviews Core Values, Culture, Mission and Vision Statements.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties, tasks, and functions.Respect residents privacy, confidentiality, dignity, rights at all times.Assist with planning and organizing of activities such as bringing new ideas, purchase of supplies, baking, cooking, preparing for and leading activities, etc.Assist with evaluating activities by recording attendance, quality of residents time, improvements to be made etc.Assist with documentation and record keeping as assigned.Assist with care planning process as delegated and assigned including the assessing, writing progress notes, etc. under the counsel and supervision of the Activity Director.Work with residents of varying physical, emotional and mental abilities.Inform, remind, and encourage residents to participate in activity programming through various methods IE: calendar, room to room reminders, personal invitations, etc.Attend regular meetings within the department to keep up with happenings within in the department.Work evenings and weekends as assigned.Perform and assist with other duties assigned by Activity Coordinator.Other duties as assigned: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
