Are you willing to relocate?********Reactive Surfaces, a leading paint and coatings innovation company, is seeking a highly motivated, post-doctoral polymer chemist to join its award-winning team of experts.ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties and responsibilities of the position [although not inclusive] are summarized as follows:Independently design, organize, and conduct highly specialized and advanced studies using synthetic chemistry/polymer chemistry knowledge and skills for a highly interdisciplinary drug delivery/nanomedicine projectDesign and synthesize polymers and polymer conjugatesExplore and optimize polymer, and polymer conjugate purification methodsCharacterize polymer, polymer conjugates physicochemical properties using HPLC, NMR spectroscopy, Size Exclusion Chromatography, Light Scattering, etcAssist formulation development for efficient drug encapsulation using pH-activable polymer-based composition by various encapsulation methodsDocument research results in appropriate records, reports, and manuscriptsCommunicate research results at team meetings either in written reports or presentationsSearch pertinent scientific literature as neededAssist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratoryMinimum Qualification RequirementsPhD in chemistry or a related field including but not limited to organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, material science, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, nanomedicine, pharmacology, etcAbility to work with chemicals and biological materials and chemicals in a safe, organized, and neat manner, with attention to detailBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office software and general computer operationsOther Preferred Skills And QualificationsAbility to independently operate chromatography (e.g. HPLC)-based analytical instruments and develop relevant analytical methods is a plusExperience with nanomedicine formulation and drug delivery-related techniques (drug encapsulation, nanoparticle characterization) is a plusStrong communication skills (both written and oral)Possess an inordinate focus on detailsAbility to meet deadlines and prioritize and manage multiple tasks, with enthusiasm and without jeopardizing qualityExceptionally adept at learning new concepts with a keen desire for new challengesAbility to work collaborativelyCompany DescriptionReactive Surfaces is an award-winning paint and coatings innovation company. The funding agencies require that the position be filled by a US citizen. The research will be conducted in fully equipped and staffed polymer chemistry laboratories of the company at The Accelerator of the University of Southern Mississippi, one of the premier polymer programs in the world, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.Reactive Surfaces is an award-winning paint and coatings innovation company.
