Test Supervisor - NPES - 3rd Shift US-CT-GrotonThe D278 Test Supervisor must provide supervision, technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly Electronics Technicians. Core to this position is the successful performance of the teams Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvement. This position requires the selected individual to interface with other departments to achieve success across all projects and is an excellent opportunity to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience in support of career development.Roles and ResponsibilitiesLead the activities of assigned Electronics Test employees through the performance of testing Combat and Weapons Systems cabling and components during all phases of new construction and delivered ship availabilities onboard submarines.Coordinate Department 278 manning needs among project Chief Test EngineersServe as primary point of contact for new construction project testing needs between the Chief Test Engineer and Electronics TechniciansInterface with Chief Test Engineers, Test Engineers, Engineering, Ships' Management, Quality, Trade Departments and Ship Force Navy personnel in support of assigned taskingLead the team to achievement of company goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process ImprovementAssign work; provide technical expertise, instruction, mentoring, motivation and performance assessment of assigned employeesSupervise all aspects of employees attendance, training, qualifications, discipline and administrative actions required to maintain the departmentVerify work performed by employees is being conducted in accordance with policies and proceduresPerform verification that certification test procedures are being performed correctlyInterface with union representation and leadership to resolve personnel or union issuesMaintain electronic test equipment; calibration schedules, purchasing and maintenanceResponsibilitiesAbility to build a strong, cohesive team and drive them toward a high level of performanceAbility to analyze performance data, formulate process improvement ideas and continuously improve performanceAbility to communicate with all levels of workforce and managementGood interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal skillsAble to work in all internal or external environments onboard submarines under construction or repairQualificationsRequired:High School diploma / GEDMinimum of 4 years of either electrical / electronic trades or shipyard test experiencePreferred:5 years electrical experiencePrevious supervisory experience
