Design Engineer - Automotive Electrical Components

Education & Experience Requirements:BS in Mechanical Engineering + 8+ years of experience ORMS in Mechanical Engineering + 5+ years of experience5–8 years of strong hands-on experience with CATIA (V5 & V6)Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with a strong automotive background to develop 3D models and 2D drawings of automotive electrical components from concept through mass production. Components may include vision systems, radar, safety sensors, control units, and related mounting brackets.Key Responsibilities:Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 & V6Perform design feasibility studies, cost analysis, and strength calculationsDevelop part construction and specificationsConduct tolerance stack-up analysisCoordinate and support prototyping, fabrication, and manufacturingPerform FEA, meshing, draft analysis, and digital mockup (SPA)Ensure compliance with Honda drawing standardsSupport production launch and process improvementsRequired Technical Skills:CATIA V5 & V6VPM NavigatorAdvanced SurfacingMeshing & FEASheet Metal DesignCAE & Draft AnalysisDigital Mockup (SPA)Manufacturing Knowledge:Sheet metal processes (forming, stamping, welding)Injection moldingProcess controlStrong understanding of function, cost, and weight optimizationEngineering Competencies:Tolerance stack-up analysisPart design for manufacturabilityCross-functional coordinationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills
