Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Buckhannon, West Virginia.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Labor and DeliveryDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/15/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 15, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby travel assignment requiring C-section circulation capability and night shift availability.DetailsAcute care hospital L&D/Mother Baby unit with 4 labor beds, 4 postpartum beds, and a nursery with 8-crib capacity; 2 beds can also serve as triage bedsUnit delivers approximately 350 births per year (25–30 per month) and serves patients from 20 weeks gestation and above, including mag, insulin, pitocin, multiples, and VBACsTypical patient ratios are 1:1 for L&D and 1:4 for postpartum coupletsCharting is done in TruBridge (Evident); Epic EMR is also used on the unit; Centricity FHM system is used for fetal heart monitoring12-hour night shifts (0645–1915), with at least 2 weekends per month required; Friday/Saturday nights and Saturday/Sunday days are considered weekendsOn-call placement is possible due to low or high census and may occur rarely or as frequently as weeklyOB Techs are available 8am–4pm (2 techs) and 4pm–midnight (1 tech); no OB Tech coverage from midnight–7amRespiratory Therapy is available in-house 24/7; pharmacy closes at 5:30pm with after-hours access via PyxisNo IV team on unit; a PICC Nurse is availableProviders are on-call; Nurse Midwives are available in-house and will stay at staff nurses' requestTelemetry-capable unit, though nurses are not required to read or interpret strips — CCU reads themOccasional overflow from MedSurg or CCU depending on room availabilityRequirementsActive WV RN license or a compact RN license recognized in WV requiredMinimum 2 years of L&D RN experience requiredRequired certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)Ability to circulate C-sections is required, as staff nurses may need to step in before the OR team arrivesDriver's license copy required for considerationCOVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be submitted for review and approvalAdditional InformationOrientation consists of 2–3 shifts with a preceptor, conducted primarily on the unitNurses may float to MedSurg or ER in a helping-hands capacity if experienced and comfortable, but will be kept available for deliveriesTravelers work into the permanent staff holiday rotationScrubs are provided by the facilityCandidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel assignmentTravelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplyingTravelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without a 2-year breakAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-713974.
