Job Summary As a technician, you’ll work across a variety of environments to ensure life safety systems are installed and maintained to the highest standards. Your responsibilities will include installing fire alarm, nurse call, access control, and patient wandering systems, replacing faulty components, conducting thorough system testing, and performing routine preventative maintenance. This role requires confidence in using a wide range of tools and equipment, along with the knowledge to choose the right one for each task. Attention to detail, technical skill, and a commitment to safety are essential. This position reports to the Vice President of Electronics. Key Responsibilities Start-up, installation, service, troubleshoot, and test fire alarm systems and products Make final connections of control panels and devices per application requirements Leave cabinet wiring labeled and in a neat and organized professional manner Install and update program firmware and software as needed Install electrical wiring in exposed areas in high or drop ceilings, attics and crawl spaces Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure that they are functioning properly and that they meet local, county, state, and/or federal codes and any licensing and/or insurance requirements Keep detailed notes during installation, service, and testing for reports and redline drawings Tasks may include door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, low voltage communications and controls Write up or assist with the estimating of small quotes for change orders or the repair of deficiencies Work independently on smaller projects or as part of a team on large ones Required Qualifications 5 years of experience in the fire alarm industry Strong knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot and repair various fire alarm manufacturers Familiar with NFPA and IBC requirements Work well unsupervised and be able to schedule service calls independently Some out-of-town training may be needed for manufacturing certification Perform other duties as assigned to meet business, operational, safety, and customer service needs. • Pass required drug screening per company policy. Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company insurance requirements with the ability to drive long distances. Communicate clearly and effectively in person, by phone, video, email, and other electronic formats. Read, interpret, and follow written procedures, policies, and instructions. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands. Perform repetitive motions, and prolonged computer or device use as required by role. Work standard business hours with flexibility based on role needs. Participate in assigned on-call rotations. Use dispatching software and mobile applications. Document findings accurately in written and electronic systems. Make real time decisions in dynamic or high-risk environments. Perform basic system maintenance and document findings. Follow scheduled work hours and promote additional products and services. Identify hazards and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements. Maintain balance and coordination while working at heights, on ladders, lifts, uneven surfaces, or confined spaces. Work safely in time sensitive or emergency response situations. Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory. Travel between customer locations in IN and KY and manage a mobile schedule. Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and emergencies. Perform repetitive physical motions throughout the workday. Safely lift, push, pull, or carry equipment up to 100 lbs. with assistance as required. Work in temperature extremes and physically demanding conditions. Preferred Qualifications: Fire Life Safety, Low Voltage, Security experience.
