Learn more about MATC at Under the supervision of the Dean or designee, to teach classroom, laboratory and clinical courses in Surgical Technology program to associate degree level students. Related duties include development and teaching of all surgical technology program courses. Duties also include ordering supplies and equipment maintenance, conducting and supervising clinical learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, assisting in the development of curriculum, helping to formulate departmental policy and procedures, evaluating program effectiveness, developing strategies to enhance student achievement, participation in divisional and departmental activities, developing a program budget and other duties as assigned.Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities. Manage the classroom/laboratory. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation. Manage equipment, supplies and materials. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues. Collaborate with advisory committee in program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings. Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC. Support student organizations and activities. Develop relationships with business and industry. Complete program evaluation and follow-up. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field. Qualifications Educational Requirements: Must meet the following: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or higher in any field is required. Must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program which meets the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Preferred : Associate's Degree in applied science preferred. Occupational Requirements: Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time (4,000 hours) of work experience as an occupational Surgical Technologist. In addition, one of the following must be met: 1. At least two (2) years of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years. OR 2. Two (2) years of teaching Surgical Technology course work at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years. (One (1) year of teaching experience is equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time - per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3. 04) Industry Certification Required: Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and/or current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means. Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques. Must meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards (if applicable). Supplemental Information Start Date: This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start in the fall semester- August 10, 2026. Hours: This position is full-time. Full-time faculty are assigned a minimum workload of 32 hours per week. Course load and schedule will depend on course availability. Work schedule could include in person, online, hybrid, daytime, evening, and weekend teaching assignments. All work must be conducted in the state of Wisconsin. Salary: Full-time faculty salary position is determined based on the individual's education and years of relevant experience and is assigned to the appropriate salary class and step in accordance with the applicable salary schedule. See below for plan types: Low Deductible PPO High Deductible PPO Upon selection, the coverage begins the first of the month following start date. You will have 30 days from your start date to enroll. MATC contributes a generous percentage towards medical insurance premium. Both medical plans include prescription drug coverage at no additional cost to employees. Employees are offered an option to enroll in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) with the selection of the Low Deductible PPO plan. Employees are offered an option to enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA) with the selection of the High Deductible PPO plan with employer contributions. Dental Insurance MATC offers a group dental plan through Delta Dental. Upon selection, the dental insurance plan coverage begins the first of the month following start date. Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and has an orthodontic benefit for dependents up to age 19. Vision Insurance MATC offers a group vision plan through Superior Vision..Upon selection, the vision insurance plan coverage begins the first of the month following start date. Plan covers eye exam, frames, lenses and contact lenses. Group Life Insurance MATC offers group term life insurance benefits through Madison National Life Insurance Company effective the first of the month of start date and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is based upon the employee's annual earnings rounded to the higher $1,000.00. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death. Long-Term Disability MATC offers long-term disability insurance through Madison National Life Company after 30 days of employment and is fully paid for by the College. Benefits provided are equal to 66 2/3% of base monthly earnings. Flexible Spending Accounts MATC offers two types of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Health Care FSA Dependent Care FSA This type of benefit allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars per calendar year for a variety of medical, dental, and vision expenses (for a Health Care FSA) and for day care expenses for children under 13 or family members that are dependent on you for more than half their support (for a Dependent Care FSA) up to a maximum amount. Retirement Savings Regular full-time employees of MATC who are hired for greater than 12 months become members of the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)'s pension system as of day one of employment. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf. Contribution rates are subject to change annually as set by the State. In addition to the WRS pension account, employees may enroll in other optional retirement savings plan such as a 403(b) account or a 457 account on a pre-tax or post-tax basis. Sick Leave MATC offers employees a generous sick leave plan per year. Each employee may accumulate up to 165 days of full sick leave with an unlimited accumulation of half pay sick leave. Vacation MATC offers a vacation policy to employees for the purpose of rest and relaxation. Vacation is earned at a generous rate each year of employment.
