Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud at Abbott, you will help shape a scalable, secure SaaS health platform used across 49 countries. You’ll lead and contribute to Go-based services, driving high performance and reliability in a large-scale, medical device environment. You collaborate with cross-functional partners to design APIs, ensure security, and guide architectural decisions. ResponsibilitiesEvolve and optimize Go-based healthcare platforms and servicesDesign and implement cloud-native components and APIsDevelop high-volume, low-latency backend servicesCollaborate with internal/external partners to integrate data with external systemsWrite unit-testable, maintainable code and participate in code reviewsCoordinate with InfoSec to build secure solutionsShape API contracts with internal/external teamsContribute to architecture and operational decisions with Architecture teamBuild internal tooling and APIs to streamline processesCreate diagrams/models of system design and workflowParticipate in Agile team rituals and prioritize featuresStay current with trends and advocate for innovations
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering Mathematics, or related fieldMinimum 6 years of professional software development in Agile environments (or master's with 4+ years)Experience with Go and idiomatic Go practices; strong concurrency knowledgeExperience designing scalable, highly available backend architecturesProficiency with RESTful APIs and microservices paradigmsExperience with relational databases like SQL Server, PostgreSQLAbility to work with distributed teams asynchronously and communicate effectivelyTeam-oriented collaborationExcellent written and verbal communicationWillingness to learn new languages and technologiesGo programming languageConcurrency patterns in Go (goroutines, channels)RESTful API design and microservices
