In this pivotal position, you will oversee the entire accounts payable process, ensuring precision, promptness, and compliance at every step. You'll lead the North American accounts payable team, collaborating with other departments to implement best practices and utilize technology for scalable AP operations. You'll engage routinely with stakeholders across the US and Canada in Finance, Procurement, Business Operations, and accounting application support. A deep understanding of best practices and key controls in the procure-to-pay process, coupled with significant experience in government contracting and Deltek Costpoint, is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable Operations: Lead the accounts payable team, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork while managing day-to-day operations for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in processing invoices and payments.Oversee accounts payable processing for all entities in the US and Canada, including the implementation of travel and expense reimbursement policies.Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end close activities related to accounts payable.Analyze and manage the company's Travel and Purchasing Card Program to ensure compliance and optimization.Collaborate with corporate stakeholders to align financial processes with corporate goals.Conduct general accounting duties, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.Prepare and file IRS forms 1099 and 1096.Monitor payment schedules for compliance with terms and to optimize cash flow.Become the department's subject matter expert on accounts payable workflow software.Team Leadership and DevelopmentSupervise and mentor team members, ensuring they receive the necessary training on AP processes and compliance standards.Vendor ManagementManage vendor master records and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.Reporting and AnalysisPrepare AP-related reports and monitor performance indicators to enhance operations.Compliance and Internal ControlsEnsure adherence to accounting standards and internal policies, supporting both internal and external audits.Process Improvement and Technology UtilizationProactively identify and implement process enhancements and troubleshooting measures within AP systems.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.Minimum 6 years of accounts payable experience with a solid grasp of AP processes and accounting principles.Minimum 4 years in a leadership role managing finance operations teams.Strong people management skills with a focus on team development.Experience with OCR and Intelligent Document Processing technologies.Proficient in general business practices, general ledger accounting, and treasury practices.Outstanding communication and analytical skills, with a proactive problem-solving approach.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis.Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.Desired SkillsFamiliarity with Deltek Costpoint v.8.1 or higher.Experience with Hyland OnBase IAConnect, SAP Concur, MS Power BI is a plus.Company OverviewSerco Inc. is part of Serco Group, plc.
