SAT Instructor / Tutor — Math and/or EnglishScoreUp SAT Studio — Rockville, MD Work Location: In person Position Type: Part-time, hourly/contract Pay: $40.00–$60.00 per hour, based on experience and qualificationsRole Description:ScoreUp SAT Studio is seeking experienced and highly qualified SAT Instructors/Tutors to support high school students preparing for the Digital SAT. We are looking for instructors who can teach SAT Math, SAT English/Reading & Writing, or both subject areas.This is a part-time, in-person role based in Rockville, MD. Instructors will deliver structured, engaging, and data-driven SAT instruction using student performance results, mock exam data, and a licensed SAT practice platform. Each student receives a 3-month account to the platform, which serves as the primary resource base for the program.While ScoreUp SAT Studio provides the overall program structure, weekly cycle, platform access, and instructional framework, instructors are expected to supplement with targeted lesson plans, original practice materials, and differentiated instruction based on student needs. We value experienced educators who bring their own instructional strategies, initiative, and proven ability to help students improve.Assessments are a core part of the program. Students take a full-length, timed mock exam at the start of the program and again each week. Instructors will help proctor assessments, analyze student results, identify topic-specific weaknesses, and adjust instruction accordingly. Weekly progress updates and actionable score improvement plans will also be shared with students and parents.ScoreUp SAT Studio is a newly launched Summer 2026 program. While the core schedule and program structure are finalized, we are continuing to build out curriculum systems and instructional processes. This is a strong opportunity for experienced SAT instructors to contribute meaningfully to curriculum development, student progress systems, and program growth from the ground up.This summer opportunity has strong potential to continue into the fall and possibly year-round as the program expands.Subject Areas Needed:We are hiring instructors for one or more of the following areas:SAT MathAlgebraAdvanced MathProblem-Solving & Data AnalysisGeometry and TrigonometryDigital SAT Math strategies and Bluebook-style practiceSAT English / Reading & WritingReading comprehensionGrammar and conventionsVocabulary in contextAnalytical reading and writing skillsDigital SAT Reading & Writing strategiesAcademic writing skills that extend beyond standardized testingCombined SAT Math and English InstructionInstructors who are qualified and comfortable teaching both sections are strongly encouraged to apply.Schedule:Weekend Classes: Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00 AM–5:00 PMWeekday Evening Study Hall Supervision: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM–9:30 PMProgram Dates: Period 1: July 11–July 31 Period 2: August 1–August 21 SAT Exam Date: August 23Applicants should be able to commit to at least one full program period. Analysis, Geometry, and TrigonometryDevelop lesson plans and practice materials aligned with the Digital SAT Math format and College Board Bluebook platformExplain advanced math concepts clearly to middle and high school studentsSupport students targeting measurable SAT Math score growth, including high-achieving students aiming for 700+ in SAT MathSAT English / Reading & Writing Responsibilities:Design and deliver intensive SAT Reading & Writing instruction for high school studentsProvide targeted instruction on reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and analytical writingDevelop rigorous English/Reading & Writing lessons aligned with SAT test design and college readiness standardsMentor students on academic writing skills, test-taking strategies, and reading analysis skills that extend beyond the SATSupport students preparing for SAT English/Reading & Writing score improvement through data-driven instructionQualifications Required:For All Applicants:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related fieldStrong understanding of Digital SAT structure, question types, scoring, and timing strategiesExperience teaching, tutoring, or preparing students for standardized testsAbility to analyze student performance data and adjust instruction based on identified weaknessesStrong classroom management and student engagement skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to create targeted lesson plans and supplemental practice materialsMust be able to complete a teaching demonstration and/or qualification test during the interview processSAT Math Instructor Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related field5+ years of math teaching experience, with at least 3 years focused on SAT/ACT Math preparationProven record of student SAT Math score improvements of 100–200+ pointsStrong understanding of Digital SAT Math structure, question types, and scoringAbility to explain advanced math concepts clearly to middle and high school studentsSAT English / Reading & Writing Instructor Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field7+ years of teaching experience in English instruction, with at least 5 years focused on SAT/ACT Reading & WritingDemonstrated record of student SAT score increases, with a minimum of 150–250 points in English/Reading & WritingDeep understanding of SAT test design, scoring, and college readiness standardsAbility to differentiate instruction for varying student levelsStrong academic writing, grammar, reading comprehension, and verbal reasoning instruction skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience teaching in competitive school districts, including MCPS, private schools, magnet programs, or advanced academic programsFamiliarity with the College Board Bluebook platform and digital testing formatExperience developing SAT Math, SAT Reading & Writing, or full SAT curriculumPublished curriculum or experience developing proprietary SAT prep materialsFamiliarity with data-driven instruction and progress-tracking toolsExperience tutoring high-achieving students targeting 700+ in SAT Math or top SAT English/Reading & Writing scoresExperience coaching students in academic writing, AP English, or college essaysFlexibility, initiative, and interest in helping
