Construction Project CoordinatorEmployment Type: Contract through 04/23/2027 (High potential for extension)Location: Jackson, MI 49201 (Also open to: Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Cadillac service centers)Work Schedule: Hybrid (On-site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)Number of Openings: 4Department OverviewThe Electric Operations team is responsible for electric meter operations, underground construction, and system-wide infrastructure initiatives across the state. This role will primarily support the Contract Manager organization and contribute to large-scale reliability improvement projects across the electric distribution system.Position SummaryThe Project Coordinator III is responsible for supporting the successful execution of electric infrastructure projects by coordinating cross-functional activities across design, construction, and operations teams. This role ensures projects move efficiently from planning through construction by tracking milestones, coordinating resources, and removing execution barriers.The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, construction project awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced utility environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Milestone Tracking: Monitor and track project milestones throughout all phases, ensuring that each project stays on schedule. Construction Support: Collaborate with the construction workforce to identify and resolve prerequisites and coordination tasks required to move work from the design organization to the construction phase. Project Release Coordination: Ensure that projects within the plan are released on time to meet construction timelines. Help ensure projects are timely, internally coordinated, and ready for resource allocation. Resource Management: Work closely with the team to identify the right construction resources based on project capacity and requirements. Barrier Resolution: Proactively address and resolve any barriers or obstacles preventing timely project execution. Scope, Schedule, and Budget Tracking: Assist in defining project scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure the project is adhering to these parameters while meeting deadlines and cost deliverables. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with design teams, construction teams, and project managers to ensure smooth project transitions and outcomes. QualificationsExperience: 3-5+ years of experience in construction project management or related roles. Skills: Strong technical aptitude, with a clear understanding of the construction process and project management methodologies. Learning Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn field construction processes and systems. Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders. Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues early and proactively resolve barriers to ensure timely project completion. Preferred AttributesLocation Flexibility: While Jackson is preferred, we are open to candidates in other service centers (Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, or Cadillac). Construction Knowledge: Practical knowledge and understanding of electrical construction or utility operations is highly desirable.
