Director of Safety

Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafety Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage the company's safety and occupational health strategy to reduce accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations.Safety Policies and Procedures: Establish, review, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and standards to protect employees and assets.Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with safety laws and regulations, ensuring the company's compliance.Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments and safety observations to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.Training Programs: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.Incident Management: Create Improve incident reporting procedures, ensure root cause investigations are being completed adequately and efficiently on preventable incidents or near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans to address various safety scenarios.Safety Culture: Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees, encouraging reporting of safety concerns, recognizing safe behaviors, and maintaining a positive environment where stop work authority is utilized by all levels.Safety Committee: Lead or participate in safety committees or meetings to gather input and disseminate safety information.Safety Technology: Implement and manage safety-related technology and systems, such as safety management software.Budget Management: Manage the safety department's budget effectively. Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).Professional certification in safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, CSP) is preferred.Proven experience in safety management roles, preferably in a similar industry.In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and training skills.Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office.Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.Must be able to pass a physical examination.Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice.Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations.Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather.Able and willing to work overtime when required.In-depth understanding of the utility industry and operations.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Excellent organization and time management skills.High level of professionalism and integrity.Excellent leadership and management skills.Ability to process and analyze data. Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.Consists of sedentary work.
