Commercial Drafter

Nesco has been exclusively engaged on a search for a Commercial Drafter with a long-standing Engineering client in West Texas. This growing engineering team is seeking a skilled Civil Drafting Specialist with experience in commercial land development. This position involves producing high-quality technical drawings, coordinating with project teams, and supporting the civil design process from concept through final plan preparation. Key ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed civil drafting deliverables, including:Site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, drainage plansErosion control sheets, roadway layouts, and related civil design componentsDevelop and organize CAD files, base maps, and plan sets consistent with internal and jurisdictional standards.Collaborate with engineers and project managers to incorporate design requirements and resolve technical questions.Review survey data, engineering documents, and municipal specifications to ensure accuracy in drafted plans.Verify all drawings meet applicable codes, zoning requirements, and permitting guidelines.Apply redline changes and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle.Assist in assembling submittal packages for permitting and regulatory review.Maintain organized documentation, file structures, and version control. Required Qualifications3–5+ years of civil drafting experience within land development (commercial projects strongly preferred).Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.Solid understanding of:Commercial site development workflowsGrading concepts and surface modelingUtility and drainage design fundamentalsConstruction documentation standardsAbility to interpret engineering plans, surveys, and technical reports.Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.Effective communication and ability to collaborate across disciplines.Capability to manage multiple deadlines and project priorities.
