We are seeking two part‑time Family Practitioners to join our Families, Young People and Communities Team within the Families Together program, commencing 1 July 2026.One position will be based in Port Macquarie and the other in Kempsey, with each role working within their respective Local Government Areas (LGAs). Both positions are approximately 53 hours per fortnight and are offered on a fixed‑term basis until 30 June 2031.This role requires a willingness to travel within the region. The position also involves participation in a 24/7 on‑call phone roster shared across the team, with on‑call allowances paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award. Successful candidates will be required to work flexibly between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 pm on weekdays as needed to respond to the needs of families.This position sits within Blue Sky’s Families Together Service funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice under the Family Preservation Program.Family Practitioners will: keep children safe at home with their families, preventing removal, entry into Out of Home Care, and future involvement with the child protection systemwork intensively with children and families using strengths‑based, trauma‑informed, and child‑centred practice to build safety, stability, and long‑term resilienceassess and respond to child safety and wellbeing risks, including domestic and family violence, alcohol and other drug use, and emerging family crisesdevelop, implement, and review family‑led case plans, supporting improved outcomes in parenting capacity, education, health, and overall wellbeingcoordinate and collaborate with DCJ and community partners to deliver integrated, timely, and effective support for familiesmaintain accurate case documentation and contribute to program outcomes, ensuring compliance with Families Together requirements, performance indicators, and reporting timeframes. Who We Are Looking ForSuccessful applicants for this position will have:a relevant tertiary qualification (or progress toward one) in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience delivering trauma‑informed, family‑centred support to vulnerable children and familiesa First Aid Certificate (or willingness to undertake training)a willingness to travel within the local area to support familiesthe ability to consistently align behaviours, attitudes, and conduct with the organisation’s values, culture, and Code of Conducta strong working knowledge of Family Preservation systems and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer servicethe ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and proficiently use information and communication technology systems, including the Microsoft suite, client management systems, and databasesthe capability and willingness to confidently and accurately promote the Families Together program, including its goals, activities, processes, and functionsa friendly, kind, and positive approach, with a strong can‑do attitudea desire not only to meet expectations, but to consistently exceed themhighly developed organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively. About The Families, Young People And Communities TeamThe Families, Young People and Communities team works with young people (aged 8 to 24) and their families, parents and carers to ensure young people are safe and connected, and parents are supported to strengthen family relationships, providing a wide range of support options for individuals, groups, and families.
