Game Backend Developer (Mandarin Speaker)
Salary: $100,000 - 100,000 per year
Requirements:
Strong Java fundamentals, including a solid grasp of the JVM, multithreading, and concurrent programmingProficiency with WebSocket, socket.io, and similar real-time communication technologiesHands-on experience with Netty for high-performance, low-latency network applicationsExperience designing and developing RESTful APIsFamiliarity with Protobuf or comparable serialization formats such as FlatBuffers or ThriftStrong understanding of high-concurrency and distributed system design, including load balancing and horizontal scalingExperience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, plus caching with RedisFamiliarity with common frameworks such as Spring Boot and NettyExperience deploying and operating services on AWS, including EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, and S3Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skillsFluent Mandarin ChineseExperience in backend development, especially game and real-time service backends, is preferredExperience delivering and operating at least one live game or online product end to end is preferredExperience supporting Unity-based games on the backend and collaborating on networking and protocol design is preferredExperience shipping lightweight social or instant games, such as Telegram mini-games, including bot API, authentication, and payments, is preferredProven ability to build systems that support high concurrency and large volumes of simultaneous users, such as tens of thousands of CCU, is preferredExperience designing real-time communication architectures for latency-sensitive applications is preferredExperience working in cross-functional teams with client engineers, game designers, QA, and operations is preferredPrior experience in game backend or real-time multiplayer projects is strongly preferredFamiliarity with Node.js for backend services or tooling is preferredExperience with Telegram mini-games, Mini Apps, or other instant and social platform games is preferredFamiliarity with message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ is preferredExperience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferredExperience building matchmaking, leaderboards, and anti-cheat systems is preferredAbility to commute to Irvine, CA 92618 and relocate there before starting work

Design and operate backend services that power our Unity-based titles and Telegram mini-gamesBuild real-time communication, game state synchronization, matchmaking, and live operations capabilitiesSolve high-concurrency and low-latency challenges for live player experiencesCollaborate closely with Unity client engineers on networking and protocol designWork with cross-functional partners, including client engineers, game designers, QA, and operationsDevelop and support game-specific backend systems such as matchmaking, leaderboards, and anti-cheatDeploy and manage services in cloud environments and support ongoing performance optimization
