Senior Structural Engineer , Modular Systems and Data CenterLocation: Austin TX / San Francisco CA / New York NYSalary: $200,000 – $250,000 per year, plus equityHybridType: Full-timeThe roleOne of the most active hyperscale data center developers in the US is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural engineering on custom modular systems across a multi-site, multi-state portfolio. This is an owner/developer position covering the full lifecycle from early-stage design through factory production, delivery, and site installation.This is a niche role at the intersection of structural engineering and modular construction. If you have serious experience on prefabricated or modular structural systems and want to own that workstream at genuine hyperscale, the scope and compensation here are hard to match.What you'll be doingDesign and engineer structural steel frameworks and modular systems for data center applications across the full project lifecyclePerform static, dynamic, and seismic structural calculations for modular frames, stacking configurations, lifting and rigging conditions, transport load cases, and foundation interface connections using ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural Systems, and SolidWorksDevelop detailed 3D structural models in Revit and AutoCAD 3D and maintain accuracy across design iterations and fabrication releasesProduce detailed connection designs for module-to-module interfaces, foundation anchorage, and field-assembled structural elements covering weld specifications and tolerance accommodationLead design for manufacturability reviews, translating engineering intent into factory-executable detailsProduce construction drawings, material lists, and cutting schedules; coordinate with fabrication and warehousing teamsDevelop and maintain modular structural basis of design, master specifications, and standard details across the portfolioApply and enforce ACI, AISC, AWS D1.1, ASCE 7, and IBC across all project phasesManage external structural consultants and modular fabricators from schematic through IFC and factory releaseLead structural permitting strategy across jurisdictions: building permits, factory inspection and certification, special inspections, and modular code acceptanceConduct factory audits and site visits to document structural fabrication quality and installation accuracyDrive automation of internal engineering processes to improve speed and repeatability across future projectsWhat we need from youDegree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering; Masters preferred10 or more years of structural engineering experience including significant work on modular, prefabricated, or custom-engineered structural systemsPE license requiredHands-on experience with static, dynamic, and seismic structural analysis, member sizing, connection design, and calculation package developmentRevit, AutoCAD, ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural Systems, SolidWorksWorking knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, and AWS D1.1 as applied to modular and prefabricated constructionExperience with module transport requirements, lifting and rigging design, and site installation sequencingBIM coordination experienceGood to haveHyperscale data center, large-scale industrial, or mission-critical modular facility development backgroundHigh-seismic, high-wind, or expansive soil site conditions and their implications for modular foundation designFactory quality management systems and modular third-party certification programmesTolerance stack-up analysis, connection detailing for field assembly, and dimensional controlExperience developing or automating internal engineering workflowsOwner/developer-side experienceRaised floor systems, equipment pad design, and integrated MEP support structures in modular data center environmentsSteel detailing software such as TeklaCompensation and benefits$200,000 – $250,000 per year DOE, plus equity (stock options)Health, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement planGenerous PTOFor more information please contact: matthew.holden@clear-er.com
