Volunteer Aging Well Committee Co-Chair

OVERVIEWThe Aging Well Committee Co-Chair helps lead efforts to ensure downtown Beaverton is inclusive, accessible, welcoming, and engaging for older adults. This role supports the development of age-friendly programs, partnerships, advocacy efforts, and community engagement initiatives that improve the experience of aging populations in Downtown Beaverton.The purpose of this job description is to provide guidance in executing the responsibilities of this role and does not supersede the bylaws of the Beaverton Downtown Association. The bylaws will take priority if any discrepancy between this job description and the bylaws occurs or exists.POSITION TITLEAging Well Committee Co-ChairPOSITION PURPOSEThe Aging Well Committee Co-Chair provides leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for the committee while working collaboratively with volunteers, community partners, BDA committees, and the Board of Directors. This role helps guide committee priorities, facilitate meetings, support project implementation, and ensure the committee’s work aligns with the Beaverton Downtown Association’s mission and strategic goals.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESCommittee LeadershipCo-lead and facilitate committee meetingsAssist in setting committee goals, priorities, and annual work plansHelp recruit, onboard, and engage committee volunteersFoster a collaborative and welcoming committee environmentEnsure committee projects continue moving forward between meetingsProgram & Event DevelopmentGuide the planning and implementation of age-friendly programs and eventsSupport intergenerational programming opportunitiesIdentify opportunities to increase accessibility, inclusion, and comfort in downtown spacesAssist with integrating Aging Well initiatives into broader BDA events and activationsPartnerships & AdvocacyBuild and maintain relationships with senior-focused organizations, nonprofits, service providers, and community partnersAdvocate for accessibility improvements and age-friendly infrastructure enhancementsGather feedback from older adults and community stakeholders to help inform prioritiesIdentify opportunities for grants, sponsorships, and partnerships that support Aging Well initiativesCommunication & CoordinationServe as a liaison between the committee and the BDA Board of DirectorsProvide updates, recommendations, and progress reports to the BoardCollaborate with other BDA committees and project leadsSupport communication and promotion efforts related to committee activitiesIdeal CharachteristicsPassion for community development and inclusivityStrong communication and relationship-building skillsOrganized and dependableCollaborative leadership styleAdvocacy-oriented mindsetComfortable facilitating meetings and coordinating volunteersExperience working with older adults, accessibility initiatives, healthcare, nonprofits, or community services preferred but not requiredTIME COMMITMENTApproximately 5 hours per monthAttend monthly committee meetingsParticipate in occasional events, planning meetings, and partnership meetings as needed
