Staff Accountant – Ethanol PlantLocation: Sauget, ILDepartment: Accounting / FinanceReports To: Sr. Cost Accountant / Plant ControllerPosition SummaryThe Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of an ethanol production facility, with emphasis on inventory management, production costing, and commodity accounting. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and coordination with plant operations.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and reconcile inventory balances for corn, ethanol, distillers grains, and corn oilMonitor and analyze production yields, shrink, and operating variancesAssist with monthly cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations and standard cost updatesCollaborate with operations teams to validate production data and system inputsPrepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsAssist with monthly financial statements and variance analysisSupport accounting for hedging instruments in accordance with ASC 815 Derivatives and Hedging, when applicableMaintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedulesTrack capital expenditures and assist with project capitalizationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or agricultureStrong understanding of GAAP principlesExperience with ERP systems such as SAP ERP, Oracle NetSuite, or similar platformsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysisPreferred QualificationsExperience in ethanol, biofuels, grain, or commodity-based industriesKnowledge of hedge accounting or derivativesKey CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work collaboratively across departments, including plant operationsEffective organizational and time management abilitiesWorking ConditionsPrimarily office-based in an industrial plant environmentOccasional interaction with plant operations and maintenance personnelStandard business hours with occasional overtime during month-end close or auditsPhysical RequirementsAbility to remain seated for extended periodsOccasional lifting of files or office materials up to 20 lbsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on qualifications and experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) plan with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysEqual Opportunity Employer StatementCrysalis Bioscience Inc. is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse workplace.
