Data Product Manager

All locations Hartford, United States; Princeton, United States; Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is a shared service organization that delivers services to all Munich Re US P&C Companies and other group entities.This role supports Data and Analytics initiatives by contributing technical expertise and helping deliver data solutions from start to finish. The position assists in ensuring that data products are accurate, reliable, and aligned with business needs. Working closely with business and technology teams, this role helps improve data quality, usability, and adoption to support positive business outcomes.Major Accountabilities:Align data initiatives with business goals and strategyCollaborate with business to define the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for data products (e.g., datasets, data platforms etc.)Gather, prioritize, and translate business requirements into data capabilitiesPartner with preferred suppliers to bring fit for purpose resources onto the delivery teamsManage projects leveraging an Agile delivery methodologyWork with the business product owners to prioritize the product backlog for data engineering and analytics teamsWrite and refine user stories related to data ingestion, transformation, quality, governance, and accessBalance new features, technical debt, and regulatory/compliance needsPartner with data engineers and data stewards to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and consistencyDirect data engineering team to analyze functional requirements and drive the build of data pipelines to support solution deliveryOwn issue triage and prioritization for data defectsWork closely with data engineers, architects, BI developers, DevSecOps and other platform (Distributed big-data processing platforms, Azure etc.) teamsDeep understanding of data warehouses/data marts/ data lake / data API's in cloud-based environmentsWork with and/or lead data architects to ensure critical data sources/elements have been identifiedWork with management/architecture to align architecture solutions for the aggregation and provisioning of data globallyPartner with data solution architects to ensure appropriate data availability in support of advanced data analytical needs for the organizationClosely work with both logical/conceptual and physical data modelers to deliver optimized data models that support the required technical solutionProvide estimates and estimation models for resourcing as needed for technical project deliveryProvide status reporting and partner with the PMO where neededSupports all required IT organizational controls and will help to enable anything required where gapped for data specificallyCapacity to lead transformational programs across multiple teamsQualifications:Basic Knowledge, Skills, And Experience:8+ years of experience across data architecture, data engineering, data management, and data delivery in Financial Services and/or Insurance organizationsExperience in designing and building information assets leveraging modern technology platforms including cloud (Azure, AWS, Google, etc.)Experience with cloud data pipelining technologies such as Informatica IICS and ADFExperience with ETL/ELT pipelines using Distributed big-data processing platforms, Apache Distributed data processing frameworks (PySpark/Scala), and Delta LakeExperience with data platforms such as Distributed big-data processing platforms, Snowflake, Oracle/SQL Server/DB2/Etc. and Informatica MDM/RDM toolingExperience with Insurance platforms such as DuckCreek and/or Guidewire and their data componentsExperience collaborating with key business partners and functional teams to ensure requirements are made available and understood by the technical delivery teamExperience working with global partners and leadersB.S. and/or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalentPrevious experience helping to lead Data teams through organizational change to improve efficiency, reducing costs, and integrating business units and their capability requirementsProven track record of delivering projects on time and within budgetAt Munich Re, we see Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as a solution to the challenges and opportunities all around us.
