Quality Assurance Specialist, Kenner, LA ($22-32/hr)Job Summary:Immediate need for a Quality Assurance Specialist in Kenner, LA for a multi-billion dollar leader in their industry. This is a Temp to Hire opportunity that is paying $22-$32/hr.Start time: 7:30am (ideally 2am 2 days a week)End time: 4:30pmSchedule – if other than M-F: After training could include a weekend day (most likely Saturday) but Monday to Friday to startThis position is responsible for quality element control related to operation, policy and procedure auditing, supporting quality improvement projects, and supporting the manager to drive defect prevention and detections. The position acts as the primary business unit liaison to US Quality Assurance.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Coordinates and monitors quality improvement projectsAudits implementation of quality system for effectiveness by verifying operation activities to Customer and Regulatory specificationMonitors corrective action systemEducates and trains unit staff and managers in quality related issuesPlays a key role in developing a comprehensive quality programImplements the quality system detailed in the quality manualChampions the total quality improvement efforts and initiates problem solving efforts and assures implementationSupports the manager to drive prevention vs. detection of defectsCoordinates actions to prevent the occurrences of nonconformitiesMaintains customer compliance resolutionResponsible for the maintenance of key performance metrics for the Quality organizationActs as the primary liaison to US Quality AssuranceControls Food safety and Quality of processing and manufacturing within the businessSupports customer audits, government audits to meet complianceVerifies and ensures company policies and procedures are followedEnsures quality specifications and requirements are followed and metAssists with developing Standard Operating ProceduresResponsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specificationAssists in training of all Standard Operating Procedures and Critical Control Points in the unitQualifications: 3+ years of experience in a high-volume QA environment within the food industry (food manufacturer, high-volume caterer, or similar). Lab-only experience will not be a fit for this role.Demonstrated experience with food safety audits.Food processing experience is essentialPreferred qualifications include College degree in related discipline, knowledge of HACCP, quality management and six sigmaIs HACCP certified and ServeSafe trained a plusBasic lean, six sigma knowledge, and continuous improvement understanding a plusHighly Preferred (having all three is a strong plus): HACCP CertificationFamiliarity with SQF standards and auditsPCQI Certification (second-level)Supervisory Experience:This role will oversee the activities of approximately 10 employees. Prior supervisory experience is a plus but not a hard requirement.
