Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center Job PostingOrthopedic Associates Surgery Center is seeking to hire a full-time (40 hours per week) Registered Nurse Clinical Educator. This role will be a shared role between three sites: Orthopedics Associates Surgery Center, Glastonbury Surgery Center, and HHC-Hartford Surgery Center, and will require travel to each of the Centers.Purpose of the Position:The RN Educator is responsible for leading the overall education and orientation programs. The Educator will serve to assist in the growth of our staff by implementation of evidence-based practice related to orthopedic nursing with the goal of improving the health of the patients and communities that we serve.Responsibilities:Through educational programs, mentorship, and training this position will:Develops, coordinates, and delivers onboarding programs for new clinical staffAssess the educational needs of all departments routinelyPlan an organized educational program to help improve clinical competence utilizing best practices to provide cost-effective care of the highest qualityUtilizes and incorporates educational resources such as ARON's Periop 101 course into the orientation program as applicableWill conduct regular "education check-ins" in collaboration with the Department Manager, to plan new employee's path to success through mentoring and supportWill maintain employee orientation paperwork to record progress and readiness for different tasksWill organize the in-service schedule, including annual validation training and quarterly mock drills to support and promote the continuing education and specialization of the current staffWill work as SIS charting super user and trainer for the facilityAssist Nursing leadership to establish, interpret and enforce nursing policies and proceduresMonitor quality metrics and improvement programs as it relates to patient care to promote patient quality and safetyIdentify opportunities and implement best practices to achieve quality patient outcomesSupports root cause analyses by identifying system or educational gaps following safety eventsEnsures staff education aligns with AAAHC, CMS, OSHA and state-specific standardsPrepares staff for survey readiness by conducting mock surveys and policy reviewsServe on all committees as appointed by the LeadershipQualifications:Education:Bachelor's degreeFive (5) years of perioperative nursing experienceExperience:Prefer 3-5 years of active clinical nursing experienceExperience as an RN Educator at a facility in a healthcare setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience as a preceptorLicensure, Certification:CNOR preferredCurrent unencumbered State of CT RN LicenseBLS RequiredKnowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:Knowledge of and principles/theories of in adult learningKnowledge of unit-based orientation plansStrong skills in the assessment of educational needsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative teamProficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and strong skills in excelDemonstrates the ability to develop, deliver and evaluate educational programsDemonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and servicesThis job posting is not meant to be all inclusive but to provide an overview of the job responsibilities.
