Kelly is hiring a Scientist I, Production (Chemistry) for one of our clients in Rockford, IL$23/hrM-F 1st shift 12 month contract (may be extended/converted)Job Description: Organic Chemist (Manufacturing)Essential FunctionsManufacturing & Synthesis: Perform organic chemistry syntheses in a production environment, ensuring all processes and procedures are followed to maintain product inventory.Production Analysis: Produce and analyze reagents, components, and finished products according to the manufacturing plan.Scientific Proficiency: Maintain a deep scientific understanding of products and their applications to execute work and suggest process improvements.Data & Documentation:Analyze and interpret complex scientific data using specialized technical skills.Maintain accurate Batch Data Records, notebooks, and work orders to document all manufacturing and development work.Inventory & ERP Management: Manage raw materials, Work in Progress (WIP), and finished goods using advanced ERP system functions.Process Improvement:Identify manufacturing issues, conduct experiments, and recommend corrective actions.Evaluate, revise, or create process documents to ensure reproducible and high-quality manufacturing.Quality & Safety:Adhere to strict quality standards and advocate for total quality within the team.Collaborate with EH&S to ensure all safety guidelines are strictly followed.Collaboration & Scheduling:Coordinate with internal and external departments to share resources and meet business objectives.Work with planning and purchasing teams to develop and execute manufacturing schedules aligned with master requirements.Product Development: Actively participate in New Product Development (NPD) and co-develop processes with R&D or Manufacturing Sciences.Professional Development: Engage in team-building, conflict resolution, and seek continuous education through journal clubs and seminars.Key SkillsTechnical Writing: Solid ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation.Communication: Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to summarize scientific results concisely for various stakeholders.Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to formulate solutions, perform investigative experiments, and address product or process failures.Organization: Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize multiple shifting projects independently.Leadership: Proven ability to lead, provide work direction, and thrive in a team-based environment.Process Optimization: Experience implementing large-scale manufacturing procedures to optimize efficiency and quality.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (preferred) or a related scientific discipline.2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Preferred Requirements:Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry.
