Position Type:Administration/Assistant PrincipalDate Posted:5/22/2026Location:Rockport ElementaryAdministrative Assistant - Rockport Elementary SchoolThe Administrative Assistant serves as a school-based instructional and student support leader who works closely with the principal to promote a positive school culture, support teachers, strengthen curriculum and instruction, and assist with student discipline. This role is administrative in nature and is designed to help ensure the daily success of students, staff, anp families. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the principal in supporting the daily operations and overall leadership of the elementary schoolHelp promote a positive, safe, and respectful school culture for students, staff, and familiesHelp support students' social and emotional needs through positive behavior supports, student check-ins, collaboration with staff, and connection to appropriate school resourcesSupport student discipline by addressing behavior concerns, documenting incidents, communicating with families, and helping implement appropriate interventionsWork with teachers and staff to develop consistent behavior expectations and classroom management practicesSupport teachers with curriculum planning, instructional strategies, and classroom resourcesAssist in reviewing student achievement data to help identify academic needs and support instructional decision-makingCollaborate with grade-level teams, PLCs, intervention teams, and support staff to strengthen student learningHelp coordinate academic interventions and supports for students who are struggling.Assist with the implementation of school improvement goals, curriculum initiatives, and district instructional expectationsProvide teacher support through coaching conversations, modeling strategies, helping problem-solve classroom concerns, and offering instructional resourcesAssist with parent and family communication related to student academics, behavior, attendance, and school concernsParticipate in meetings related to student support, behavior plans, academic progress, attendance, and school improvementHelp monitor student attendance concerns and work with families and staff to encourage regular attendanceAssist with planning and supporting professional development for teachers and staff.Help create and maintain systems that support schoolwide consistency in academics, behavior, and communicationSupport the principal in responding to student, staff, and family concerns ina professional and solution-focused mannerServe asa visible and approachable leader throughout the school building Assist with special programs, assemblies, testing, school events, and other activities that support student successAssist the principal with teacher evaluationsMaintain confidentiality regarding student, staff, and family informationPerform other administrative duties as assigned by the principalQualificationsValid teaching license or administrative licenseSuccessful experience working in an elementary school settingStrong understanding of curriculum, instruction, student behavior, and school improvementAbility to build positive relationships with students, staff, and familiesStrong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skillsExperience supporting teachers through collaboration, coaching, or instructional leadershipAbility to remain calm, fair, and professional when handling student discipline and difficult situations
