Electrical Estimator

Job Description Job Title: Electrical Estimator for Large Industrial ProjectsPosition SummaryThe Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine labor, material, and subcontractor costs. The estimator works closely with project managers, vendors, and clients to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with company profitability goals.Key ResponsibilitiesReview project plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed cost estimatesPerform quantity take-offs for electrical systems including power, lighting, low voltage, and specialty systemsSolicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricingCalculate labor hours, material costs, equipment, overhead, and profit marginsPrepare and submit competitive bid proposals within deadlinesAttend pre-bid meetings and site visits as requiredCollaborate with project management to ensure smooth handoff of awarded projectsMaintain updated pricing databases and cost history recordsIdentify value engineering opportunities to improve competitivenessAssist in contract review and scope clarificationQualifications5+ years of experience in electrical estimating (commercial preferred)Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and construction practicesAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentsProficiency in estimating software (Accubid, CONEST, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar)Strong math and analytical skillsExcellent communication and negotiation abilitiesDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsExperience with Design-Build projects is a plusEducation & CertificationsHigh school diploma requiredElectrical trade background or field experience preferred, Minimum 10 years in electrical estimating of design build projects and project management.Work EnvironmentOffice-based with occasional job site visitsMay require tight deadlines during bid periodsPrimary Responsibilities:Bidding small to medium projectsEstimating using blueprintsEstimating based on site visitManaging multiple estimating projectsOrganizing jobs and meeting deadlinesManaging customers and building a customer baseKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Communication and organization skillsSelf-starter, self-managedDisplays honesty and integrityMotivated work ethicAbility to estimate using softwareMicrosoft Office and other computer skillsDrug test and background check will be conducted.
