Engineering Intern
Summer Engineering Intern at ASRI
ASRI is an engineering company in Annapolis, MD that supports radio frequency analysis for the US aviation industry.
Objective
Create reference models of RF protection parameters for all ICAO standardized systems.
Tasks
For each aviation system listed in ICAO Doc 9718 Vol. I Attachment G, use the relevant standards documents (ICAO, RTCA, AEEC) to create a reference model of RF characteristics that can be used to assess the potential for interference from external system. The work should include the needed information to assess interference potential for both in‑band, and out‑of‑band, signals. Any gaps in information should be identified, and then conduct the necessary follow up with the provided relevant system experts to propose a consensus value. If the output is suitable, the candidate’s work will be credited in a paper presented to a UN panel meeting in Sep 2026.
Additional work options may be available if candidate is able to attend in office or completes the work earlier.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
Essential:
Enrolled in an electrical engineering undergraduate program that covers radio frequency and signal theory
Desirable:
Experience with radios (e.g. amateur radio license, radio building/servicing, etc.)
Experience with aviation (e.g. pilot training, etc.)
Relevant information
Work needs to be completed by 14 Aug 2026 with weekly progress updates
A candidate that can attend the ASRI office Tue/Wed weekly is preferred, but not essential if the candidate is based elsewhere in the US
