Settlement Administrator
Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Settlements Administrator to support the financial and operational execution of complex legal settlements. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate distribution of settlement funds, reconciliation of accounts, and compliance with legal and financial standards. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, analytical mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven legal environment. Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with the Compliance Officer and Accounting team to manage the full lifecycle of settlements, from intake through final disbursement. Perform accurate and timely data entry across various financial systems and software platforms. Conduct account reconciliations to ensure all settlement-related transactions are properly recorded and balanced. Prepare financial reports on a recurring and ad hoc basis to support business and compliance needs. Execute established internal settlement procedures, while identifying opportunities for process improvements. Serve as a liaison to clients, vendors, and external legal professionals, ensuring clear and professional communication. Partner cross-functionally with internal departments to support settlement-related activities. Manage workload both independently and collaboratively within the Accounting team. Support ad hoc financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives as needed. Report directly to the Controller and maintain close collaboration with the Compliance Officer. Qualifications5+ years of experience in settlements administration, accounting, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline preferred. Prior experience in the legal industry or law firm environment is a plus. Strong understanding of the accounting lifecycle and financial reconciliation processes. Knowledge of full-cycle accounts payable processes. Ability to meet tight deadlines, including occasional evening or weekend work for time-sensitive matters. Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis tools). Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and software. Law firm accounting experience is a plus.
