LONG STORY We're looking for team members who love chatting with others and have some wine, craft beer, or spirits knowledge but, more importantly, have a desire and ability to learn a lot more about the complex and beautiful world of wine, whiskey, and wheels of cheese. (There will be more than cheese, but everyone loves an alliteration.) In the hustle and bustle of 30A, we are working to build a space that is a respite from the chaos and brings people together to celebrate the best life has to offer. Personable and positive team members will thrive in this position because even if guests come in grumpy or flustered, a smile, champagne, and sushi are sure to lift the mood. RESPONSIBILITIESWarmly greets, acknowledges and takes guests' drink and food order Engage guests in a friendly and professional manner Ability to interact positively with guests with varying levels of wine knowledge, from casual drinks to sommelier Look for opportunities for additional sales through recommendations and pairings Thorough understanding and knowledge of the food menu, ingredients, allergens, and pairing recommendations Thorough understanding of the wine, beer, and liquor offerings Responsible for wine knowledge including, but not limited to, flavor profiles, DVAs, pairing, and willingness to learn more. Process all point-of-sale transactions in a quick, efficient manner Work together with fellow team members and management to ensure all guests have the best experience possible Maintain a clean and organized work environment Support other areas of the bar as requested, such as but not limited to seating customers, stock work, clean up, bussing tables, running food, speaking to guests, etc. Ensure responsible service of alcohol EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEFood Handlers license Minimum 4 years of serving or bartending experience Substantial base knowledge about wine, craft beer or liquor A high school diploma or equivalent is required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESSkilled at and enjoys delivering excellent customer service Enthusiasm for wine and food with a desire to learn more Experienced with and proficient in using retail point-of-sale systems PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be at least 21 years old Must be able to lift large-format serving trays Must be able to lift 50 lbs Standing on feet for up to 8 hours WORKING CONDITIONSFast-paced high, volume restaurant Outdoor environment Exposure to a possibly noisy environment Exposure to extreme heat or cold depending on season and location The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
