Electrical Apprentice 1 (Aransas Pass, TX)

Bay Ltd.The electrical apprentice needs to assist the electrician with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.Essential functions include:Gather tools and supplies to be used at work site according to instructionsMeasure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand toolsTrace out short circuits in wiring, using test meterStrip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent solderingExamine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand toolsConstruct controllers and panels, using power drills, drill presses, taps, saws, and punchesAssists in lifting, positioning, or fastening objects, such as wiring, conduit, and motorsPerform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switchesPerform daily maintenance and safety checksEnsure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company's safety culturePerform other duties as requested, directed, or assignedEducation and experience requirements include:High School Diploma or GED requiredAt least 3 to 5 years' experience in electrical apprenticeElectrical apprentice license is requiredSkills/key competencies include:Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in constructionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day informationExcellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing prioritiesAbility to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments results orientedAbility to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlinesAbility to work non-routine hours, when necessaryAbility and willingness to travel as requiredPhysical requirements include:Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areasMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherAbility to operate job related toolsConstantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingersWork that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with helpBay Ltd. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
