PRN Medical Assistant We're hiring a PRN Medical Assistant to join Academic Alliance in Dermatology. In this role, you'll support our providers across our 20 clinic locations throughout the Tampa Bay region, assisting with both medical and cosmetic dermatology.Details About the Role: PRN (as-needed) position based on clinic coverage needsCoverage is typically needed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM); must have availability on these days.Hours may vary week to week and are not guaranteedWill be cross-trained to assist with front desk responsibilities to help supplement hoursThis is a float role supporting providers across 20 clinic locationsMust be comfortable traveling between clinic locations as scheduledPay range: $23-24/hourMedical Assistant experience in any specialty is welcome; dermatology experience is a plus but not required. This is a great opportunity for pre-med, pre-PA, or post-bacc students in a gap year seeking hands-on clinical experience; however, candidates should have prior clinical or patient-facing healthcare experience.Why join Anne Arundel Dermatology? We provide hands-on training and long-term career growth opportunities from within.Responsibilities Job Summary: As a PRN Medical Assistant you will play a vital role within our clinical team, supporting various aspects of patient care and clinic operations. Your responsibilities will include a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure efficient workflow. You will assist with patient examinations, manage medical records, and ensure that our clinic maintains the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction. As a PRN Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for traveling to various AAD office locations to support our clinic operations. Your notification for shifts could be same day up to a month in advance.Duties/Responsibilities:Escort patient to exam room and confirm first & last name & DOB.Obtain and record vital signs.Organize patient flow.Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.Prepare Path/lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan.Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed.Check to-dos/Nurse line.Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule. Keep appropriate records of maintenance.Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.Maintain infection control and make sure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked.Ordering, sorting, restocking and inventory of all supplies.Document all medical instructions given to patients, thoroughly review wound care with patients when applicable.Anesthesia/Inject for procedures.Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner.Must maintain HIPAA compliance.Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.Qualifications Skills: Able to triage patient problems.Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.Experience administering injections.Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.Knowledge of office financial policies.Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc)Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Fluent in EnglishAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressfulAbility to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.Must be able to travel to satellite offices as neededAbility to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a teamAbility to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.Physical Requirements:Standing and walking for extended periods of timeModerate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing.Use of hands and fingers.Talking and listening in person and on the telephone.Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc.Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.Licensure/Certifications/Education Qualifications:High School Graduate or GED required.Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor's degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician's assistant track preferred.1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience preferred.Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.
