Power Electronics Engineer -- Underwater Maritime Systems

Job Description Concord, MA or Groton, CT$140,000–$180,000 + Full Relocation + Top Benefits & 401(k)The OpportunityYou will design and build the power electronics that drive underwater maritime systems — from unmanned underwater vehicle payloads and electromechanical actuation systems to acoustic communication transceivers and high-power acoustic transmit arrays. This is hands-on R&D work where your designs move from schematic to prototype to ocean-ready hardware. You will collaborate directly with engineers, scientists, and customers in a small-team environment where technical excellence and innovation are the priority.Why You'll Love This RoleWork across a wide variety of multidisciplinary programs spanning cutting-edge underwater technologiesSmall company environment with direct collaboration alongside colleagues and customers who value creativityFull relocation assistance providedCompetitive compensation with top-tier benefits and 401(k)Your Day-to-DayDesign, develop, integrate, and debug complex power electronics systems including DC/DC and AC/DC converters, power amplifiers, magnetics, and energy storage components ranging from 500W to 50kWSelect components, capture schematics, design PCBs, and run verification testing for harsh underwater operating environmentsInterface power systems with embedded processors and integrate high-power components into larger system architecturesTroubleshoot electronic systems using oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, and digital measurement probesTravel to support on-site testing (up to 25%)What We're Looking ForRequired:B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power systemsBSEE with 4+ years of relevant experience, or MSEE with 1+ years of relevant experienceProven track record designing, implementing, and testing high-voltage/high-power electrical components for prototype R&D systemsExperience with high availability power supplies and/or failover systemsComprehensive knowledge of power devices including MOSFETs, Schottky Diodes, SiC FETs, and IGBTsHands-on experience with electromechanical actuators, DC/DC converters, power amplifiers, and magneticsBasic MATLAB-aided data analysis skillsProficiency with standard electronic lab test equipmentPreferred:Experience designing electronics for underwater maritime systems or acoustic transducersFamiliarity with power converter topologies (buck, boost, flyback, SEPIC) and their control methodsExperience designing electric machines and/or drivesPCB layout experience or vendor management for board layoutEMC design and high-power system integration experienceC/C++ or Python coding for microcontrollers or embedded platformsExperience mentoring junior engineers and briefing customersBackground in R&D environments and small multidisciplinary teamsReady to Apply?If you are a power electronics engineer who wants to see your designs deployed in advanced underwater systems, we want to hear from you.
