This role helps turn customer sketches, plant layouts, and early project details into professional drawings that support faster quoting, stronger proposals, and better customer alignment.This position is a front-end sales support role, not a replacement for formal engineering design authority. The CAD Operator will work closely with Inside Sales, Regional Sales Managers, Applications Engineering, and Product/Engineering teams to prepare drawings that are technically reasonable for the proposal stage and ready for smoother handoff after award.Why This Role Matters· Improves quote speed by giving Inside Sales dedicated CAD support for early-stage layouts and revisions.· Raises proposal quality with consistent, professional drawings that customers can understand quickly.· Protects engineering capacity by cleaning up scope, layouts, and assumptions before formal project handoff.· Supports growth in conveyor, corrugated, pallet handling, load forming, and end-of-line automation opportunities.· Builds reusable drawing blocks and templates that make future quoting faster and more consistent.Ideal Candidate Profile· Fast, accurate, and organized; comfortable supporting multiple quote requests at once.· Able to work from incomplete information while clearly identifying what needs customer or engineering clarification.· Mechanically curious and willing to learn Innoveyance equipment, applications, and customer environments.· Commercially aware; understands that proposal drawings need to be practical, clear, and timely.· Collaborative and responsive with sales, applications, engineering, controls, and operations teams.Key ResponsibilitiesSales and Proposal Drawing Support· Create 2D CAD layouts, equipment arrangement drawings, proposal sketches, and concept drawings for conveyor and material handling systems.· Convert customer-provided plant layouts, PDFs, sketches, measurements, and markups into clean sales-ready CAD drawings.· Revise layouts as scope changes, including conveyor lengths, widths, flow direction, transfers, equipment placement, access points, and customer constraints.· Prepare clear drawing packages that help customers, salespeople, and internal teams align before formal engineering release.Quote and Scope Support· Work with Inside Sales to ensure layouts match quoted equipment descriptions, quantities, customer requirements, and assumptions.· Identify missing information needed for accurate quoting, such as line speed, elevation, load size, pallet size, available space, and utility or traffic constraints.· Maintain organized CAD files, revision history, blocks, templates, and standard reference layouts.· Flag layouts that require engineering review, additional customer detail, or technical validation.Product and Application Support· Develop working knowledge of Innoveyance conveyor and automation products, including powered roller conveyor, transfers, pallet handling, load forming, and end-of-line solutions.· Support productized sales initiatives by creating reusable application drawings, concept examples, and standard layout visuals.· Help improve proposal consistency by applying standard drawing conventions, notes, symbols, and presentation formats.Required Qualifications· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certificate in drafting, CAD, mechanical design, or manufacturing technology preferred.· 1-3+ years of CAD drafting experience in industrial equipment, conveyor, manufacturing, automation, construction, or a similar technical environment.· Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software.· Ability to read layouts, sketches, customer drawings, basic mechanical drawings, and equipment arrangement plans.· Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to prioritize deadline-driven requests.Preferred Qualifications· Experience with conveyor systems, corrugated box plants, pallet handling, packaging, or industrial automation.· Experience creating proposal drawings, budgetary layouts, or concept drawings for sales teams.· Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar software.· Basic understanding of controls layouts, photoeyes, operator stations, accumulation zones, and guarding considerations.Success Measures· Quote drawings are completed accurately and on time.· Inside Sales and RSMs receive cleaner layouts with fewer avoidable revisions.· Proposal packages become more professional, consistent, and easier for customers to understand.· Engineering receives better-defined opportunities with fewer front-end questions.· Standard blocks, templates, and layouts improve quoting speed over time.Equal Opportunity StatementInnoveyance is an equal opportunity employer.
