Visualization Engineer

VISUALIZATION ENGINEER- REMOTE The Select Group is seeking a Visualization Engineer who can design and build the operational dashboards and alerting systems that give the client facility and energy teams real-time visibility into the Virtual Building Automation System (VBAS) platform. Dashboards are built in Amazon Managed Grafana and inherit the clients existing vCMTS Grafana design system so operators see facility dashboards in the visual language they already use. The role spans the energy storage and microgrid layer, the HVAC automation visibility layer, and the fleet-level operational view across approximately 1,700 critical sites.The ideal candidate: combines strong Grafana expertise with an understanding of operational data, they know how to surface the right signal in a noisy facility dataset.What You'll Bring:3+ years building production Grafana dashboards: not just basic panelsStrong understanding of time-series data and PromQL, InfluxQL, or equivalent query languagesExperience configuring Grafana alerting: rules, notification channels, escalation policiesAbility to connect Grafana to multiple data sources: Amazon Timestream, Athena, SiteWise, Prometheus, PostgreSQL, or ElasticsearchExperience designing dashboards for operational (not analytics) use cases: on-call and NOC-style visibilityStrong visual design sense: can produce clean, readable dashboards without trainingFamiliarity with Amazon Managed Grafana or willingness to adoptBonus Experience:Experience with Grafana in a vCMTS or cable/telco infrastructure environmentFamiliarity with facility management, HVAC status, or energy metricsAmazon QuickSight or Tableau experience for executive viewsPrometheus or Victoria Metrics operational monitoring experienceKnowledge of dashboard-as-code (Grafonnet, Grafana Terraform provider)Basic Python or JavaScript for custom Grafana plugins or data transformationsDay To Day ResponsibilitiesDesign and build Amazon Managed Grafana dashboards displaying energy storage metrics, microgrid simulation outputs, HVAC operating state, automation events, and fleet-level KPIsInherit and extend the vCMTS Grafana design system: visual style, color palette, panel layouts, alert formattingImplement alerting rules for curtailment thresholds, state-of-charge anomalies, HVAC automation safeguard events, and override events; route notifications via SNS or AWS Chatbot to operations channelsIntegrate Managed Grafana with the shared data lake: Timestream for hot time-series, Athena for warm/cold data, SiteWise for asset measurementsValidate dashboard data against source systems; ensure no manual data refresh is requiredBuild Amazon QuickSight executive and sustainability narrative views for stakeholder reportingManage fleet-wide dashboard templates and onboard new site dashboards using dashboard-as-code patternsCollaborate with Data Engineers on query optimization and data model design for dashboard performanceMaintain a unified design system across all VBAS dashboards for consistent visual languageProduce user guides and documentation for the operations teamTSG is an equal opportunity employer.
