The Pathology Department is seeking aClinical Laboratory Specialist will oversee and conduct a variety of complex tests and lead in the development of new assays and techniques. The Clinical Laboratory Specialist will work with Pathologists and others to perform tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform assay development.Apply subject matter expertise and knowledge to execute tests and analyze results.Teach learners assigned to the lab, e.g. residents and clinical research fellowsLead and/or participate in laboratory projectsExercise independence in reviewing, understanding, and applying information found in literature in consultation with pathologists.Collaborate with technologists performing newly developed tests clinicallyMay contribute to presentations at national conferences and publications.Perform other related duties as assigned.Technical Skills and Expected Level of ProficiencyAssay Development and Validation - DevelopingData Management and Analysis - Developing Laboratory Troubleshooting and Technical Problem Solving - Developing Literature Review - Developing Oral and Written Communication - Developing Scientific Interpretation and Consulting - Developing Stakeholder Engagement - DevelopingMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.Five years' experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques.Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Classified Title: Clinical Laboratory Specialist Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MDStarting Salary Range: $55,800 - $97,600 Annually ($70,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)Employee group: Full TimeSchedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pmFLSA Status:ExemptLocation: Hybrid/School of Medicine Campus Department name: SOM Pat Molecular Diagnostics Lab Personnel area: School of MedicineTotal Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
