Job Description Title- Student Information SpecialistReports To: Principal /Director and District Attendance OfficerFLSA Designation: Non-ExemptJob Goal: To perform assigned duties efficiently and effectively and assist school faculty, staff and other school system personnel in supporting student achievement and school operationsMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentSuccessful work experience in a comparable positionBroad knowledge of basic office procedures and functionsDemonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication skillsAbility to use technology to communicate, manage data, produce reports, correspondence and/or school informationSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or school may requireAbility to competently discharge the listed performance responsibilities and essential functionsPerformance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Perform daily, monthly and routine tasks as required for the efficient operation of data management program(s) such as:Maintain accurate enrollment, attendance and withdrawal information for all studentsMaintain accurate personnel informationMaintain accurate course, class and scheduling informationEnter other data as assigned or required by the State Department of Education and Blount County Board of EducationPerform data audits and correct/resolve any conflictsMaintain the highest level of confidentiality and security concerning student, staff, school, and workplace information and matters in regards to FERPA and Blount County Security Guidelines, as well as state and federal lawsProvide administrative support to the school secretary, bookkeeper, receptionist, counselor, principal, director, or other school district personnel as neededPossess strong communication skills, e-mail, phone, person to person, as well as problem solving and conflict resolutionAssist school/district/administrative personnel as needed with preparation for meetings, projects, visiting groups, delegations and conferencesMaintain a proper and professional relationship with students and other employeesSupervise student office assistants/and or office volunteersPrioritize tasks and perform assignments as directed with accuracy, attention to detail, and within established time framesProperly use and care for equipment and material resources of the school system as well as effectively supervise and monitor others in said care and useUnderstand and implement school and system policies, protocols and proceduresDemonstrate initiative, discretion and resourcefulness in identifying and resolving problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibilityParticipate in training and professional development offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignmentsUnderstand school and school system organizational structure and chain of command, and how to access needed data and resources required to maintain efficient office function, problem solving and response to request for information and assistanceAssume responsibility for office support functions in the absence of other office staff and discharge multiple functions in a compressed time framePromote public and community support for the school and system by performing job duties and interacting with students, parents, staff and the public courteously and proactivelyUse effective interpersonal skills with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groupsModel and maintain high ethical standardsReport potential problems, unusual events, work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnelRespond to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive mannerServe on school system committees, task forces, and representative groups as requiredReport to work in a punctual manner and attend work regularlyRespond appropriately to medical or other emergencies or potential threats to school security and safetyPossess physical and emotional ability and dexterity as needed to perform assigned tasks in a fast-paced, highly intensive work environment. Have the physical capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 poundsPerform other job-related duties as assigned by the principal, director or boardTerms of employment: 192-daysDaily work schedule will be determined by the principal or his/her designee for the necessary operations of the school assigned.
