Operate plant utility equipment, such as high-pressure boilers, according to established procedures.Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:General MaintenancePipe fittingMetal fabrication skills including MIG, TIG and Stick welding, torch operation, grinding and fitting.Mechanical skills, including bearing and seal replacementAbility to read and interpret manuals and blueprintsTroubleshooting skillsResponsible for air compressor maintenanceResponsible for pump maintenance and rebuildingProvide assistance to Maintenance Manager as directedResponsible for sewer system preventive maintenance and daily monitoringFollow all safety rules, guidelines and General Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)Maintain a safe, clean work areaRemain alert and observant of unsafe work areas, unsafe working conditions and/or unsafe employees and report these conditions immediately to the Plant Manager.BoilersResponsible for start up and shut down of boilersResponsible to check gauges to ensure boilers are functioning to required standardsPerform chemical testing of boilers and cooling towers.Perform maintenance of plant utility systems.Responsible for steam trap maintenanceTroubleshoot problems with equipment operation and controlsResponsible for routine maintenance of boilersEnsure all safety features are working properly.Check boiler parts for wear and make recommendations and arrangements for major repairsMaintain accurate record keeping of log books and fill out corresponding maintenance program paperworkMaintain a clean boiler roomPeriodically work with the Boiler Inspector to ensure that boilers are working properly and everything is in order.Recommend any cost saving ideas to Plant ManagerConduct visual inspections of boilers and associated equipment to ensure everything is running properly and safely.Will be responsible for boiler operation off-seasonNote: In the absence of key personnel the Supervisor will assume responsibility to see the functions of this job are performed as required.Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
