Remote IT Security Analys

Role Description The Remote IT Security Analyst role is a part-time position focused on supporting the society’s digital security posture and best practices. In this role, the analyst monitors and reviews systems and network configurations used by the community, identifies potential vulnerabilities, and recommends remediation steps. The analyst assists in developing security guidelines, documentation, and awareness materials for members, including secure coding practices and safe use of collaboration tools. Day-to-day tasks may include analyzing security logs, reviewing access controls, supporting incident response activities, and advising project teams on application and information security considerations. This role is fully remote and requires effective communication, self-management, and collaboration with student leaders and tech teams across the society.QualificationsCandidates should possess skills in Cybersecurity and Information Security to identify risks, recommend controls, and support secure operations.Candidates should possess skills in Network Security and Information Technology to understand infrastructure, configurations, and secure system administration.Candidates should possess skills in Application Security to review projects, code, and tools for vulnerabilities and secure design.Foundational knowledge of common security frameworks, standards (e.g., OWASP principles), and basic incident response practices is beneficial.Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly to non-technical audiences are preferred.Experience with security tools (such as vulnerability scanners, log analysis tools, or endpoint protection), and familiarity with cloud-based collaboration platforms, is an advantage.Current enrollment in a relevant field of study (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience is beneficial.
