Job Title: Behavior Specialist, Specialist Behavioral Wage/Hour Status: ExemptReports to: Director Student Behavior Support Pay Grade: AP 4Dept./School: School Support and Special Services Revised: 4/8/2025Primary PurposeThe role of the behavior specialist is to assist campuses in facilitating students' behavior management by providing additional support to those students who exhibit chronic behavior problems in the classroom or campus setting.QualificationsEducation/Certification:Bachelor's degreeValid Texas teacher certificateSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of curriculum design and implementationAbility to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectivenessAbility to develop and deliver training to adult learnersAbility to interpret dataStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperienceFive years teaching experience with demonstrated success working with students with challenging behaviorMajor Responsibilities And DutiesInstructional and Program ManagementObserve and consult with campus staff and administrators on an ongoing and proactive basis.Assist campus staff with Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.Provide facilitation between school and parents.Provide teachers with research based behavioral and academic approaches/instructional strategies.Provide conflict resolution.Staff Development Plan and provide job-embedded staff development for teachers and staff in the designated subject area.Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in assigned area.Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers and administrators to facilitate improvement and innovation.Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.OtherAssist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.Demonstrate ability to train, demonstrate and implement current research-based strategies in area assigned.Compile and maintain all required reports, records, and other documents as determined necessary.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneWorking ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stressOccasional prolonged or irregular hoursPhysical capacity to administer nonviolent physical crisis intervention prevention during crisis situations with studentsPhysical capacity to provide training in and implement state mandated crisis interventionPrograms, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
