Aviation Maintenance Technician (A&P) - General Aviation Training Fleet Location: Phoenix, AZ Employment Type: Full-Time, 5 days a week About Client A busy flight training operation running a fleet of general aviation aircraft with continuous daily schedules. Four defined technician levels offer structured pay growth, clear performance expectations, and a team culture grounded in safety and quality workmanship. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $36-$48/hour - Based on experience and qualifications (4-level technician pay structure) Relocation Assistance: Available depending on the candidate Shift: 10-hour shifts; day and night shifts available Benefits Package: Full Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance; 401(k); Paid Time Off (PTO) Job Summary Support maintenance operations for an active GA training fleet through scheduled inspections, line maintenance, and rapid unscheduled repairs. The role requires a safety-first mindset, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to keep aircraft mission-ready in a high-tempo environment. Key Responsibilities Carry out maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on flight school aircraft per FAA regulations and company maintenance procedures Reference and apply technical documentation including maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, IPCs, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives Ensure all work is thoroughly documented and aircraft are returned to service in an airworthy condition Keep the hangar and workshop clean, organized, and consistently safe Relay aircraft status and maintenance timelines clearly to instructors, scheduling, and operations personnel Shift maintenance priorities as needed to align with evolving operational demands Provide flexible day and night shift coverage to keep flight operations running without interruption Minimum Requirements Active Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (required) Ability to obtain Inspection Authorization (IA) within 3 months of hire Minimum 5 years of general aviation experience as a certificated A&P High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; comfortable standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods Able to work in typical aviation environments involving fuel, solvents, aircraft noise, outdoor conditions, and hangar operations Ideal Qualifications Experience with Piper aircraft preferred Garmin G1000 familiarity is a plus Working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43 and 91 Confident troubleshooter capable of making independent airworthiness determinations Strong communication skills; effective working within cross-functional teams Comfortable with Microsoft Office; open to learning Talon RMS or comparable maintenance tracking software Detail-oriented and precise, especially in documentation and regulatory compliance Self-motivated and adaptable; performs well in dynamic, fast-changing training settings How to Apply At Rio Staffing, we specialize in connecting skilled professionals with well-run organizations and high-quality programs.
