Application Development Engineer

We’re looking for an Application Development Engineer to join a team supporting existing enterprise applications through development, maintenance, and release management work. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on Node.js or Java-based solutions, contribute to cloud and CI/CD practices, and help improve the reliability and performance of critical systems.ResponsibilitiesSupport and enhance existing applications through ongoing development, troubleshooting, and maintenanceDesign, build, test, and deliver code changes for application improvements and issue resolutionParticipate in release management activities, including code reviews and deployment supportCollaborate with technical teams, vendors, and business partners to analyze needs and deliver effective solutionsAssist with monitoring, incident resolution, and data-related support for enterprise systemsContribute to the use of cloud technologies and CI/CD practices to improve delivery quality and efficiencyWork within Agile and cross-functional environments to support team goals and project timelinesHelp maintain integrations and data workflows across supported applications and platformsSkillsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in software development, application support, systems integration, or a similar technical roleExperience working in healthcare or health insurance environmentsStrong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersSolid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesHands-on experience supporting enterprise integrations and data workflowsWorking knowledge of JSON, XML, and CSV data formatsExperience with REST APIs and web servicesFamiliarity with cloud environments, preferably AWSProgramming experience with Node.js, Java, SQL, and stored proceduresExperience with AWS Glue, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelinesComfort using development and support tools such as Jira, GitLab, Postman, Move It, Stonebranch, CyberArk, and Team DynamixExposure to Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server environmentsPreferred SkillsExperience improving application quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integrationAbility to quickly adapt to changing priorities in a support-focused environmentSelf-motivated approach with a focus on reliable, scalable, and high-quality outcomesExperience partnering across teams to solve complex technical challengesInterest in cloud modernization and engineering best practicesHorizontal is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where diverse perspectives are valued and respected.
