Learning & Development Strategist – AI Enablement

OVERVIEW:The D. E. Shaw group seeks an experienced professional with a keen interest in artificial intelligence (AI) to join its Learning & Development (L&D) team. The innovation-focused L&D team develops customized learning offerings to help the firm’s talent excel in their careers. This highly visible, business-facing role will shape how the firm leverages AI to advance learning and equip employees with the skills to transform how they work.WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI landscape, bringing informed perspectives on new models, tooling, and best practices to the team’s strategic and tactical decisions. Leverage advanced learning design methodologies to build AI fluency and skills that enable employees to use AI to enhance and reinvent day-to-day work. Consult and collaborate with stakeholders, translating business needs into practical, AI-driven learning and workflow solutions. Facilitate engaging workshops and learning experiences, fostering confidence, curiosity, and thoughtful experimentation with new ways of working. Lead cross-functional planning and execution for AI learning initiatives, managing timelines, stakeholders, and dependencies to ensure successful delivery. Partner with L&D colleagues to drive innovative application of AI across our learning programs, enhancing how we design, deliver, and continuously improve learning experiences. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: A bachelor’s degree with fifteen or more years of professional experience, including time spent in learning and development, instructional design, facilitation, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus. AI expertise, a passion for staying engaged in the latest AI advancements and demonstrated enthusiasm for driving AI adoption. Proven ability to translate business needs into practical learning solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving. Proven consulting skills and experience collaborating with senior business leaders and stakeholders. The ability to facilitate and influence at all levels of the organization, operate effectively in ambiguous environments, manage multiple workstreams, navigate cross-functional dependencies, and drive work forward with speed. The expected annual base salary for this position is $250,000 to $300,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
