We're a Series A startup backed by YC and Redpoint Ventures (Instacart, Stripe, Ramp), growing fast, and building a world-class team.About the RoleEvery.io is hiring a Senior Accountant to own the financial operations of our internal business. This is a hands-on role built for someone who's done the work at a startup before. You'll be embedded directly with leadership, working closely with our CEO and cross-functional teams to keep our books clean, our close process tight, and our filings on time.You'll inherit a part-time accountant (AP and general entries) who will report to you, and you'll collaborate closely with our payroll team, sales, and external stakeholders. The right person has a bias for action, communicates proactively, and isn't afraid to push leadership when deadlines are on the line.What You'll DoOwn the month-end and year-end close process end-to-endManage and reconcile bank accounts; match and apply paymentsHandle accounts receivable, including revenue recognitionPrepare tax schedules for income tax filing and coordinate with external preparersSupervise and direct Joe, a part-time accountant handling AP and general entriesCross-collaborate with payroll, sales, and sales support to ensure accurate journal entries and financial dataRead and interpret financial statements; present findings to leadershipIdentify issues proactively and flag them before they become problems - especially around deadlinesManage up consistently: keep leadership informed, follow through, and push for responses when neededWhat We're Looking ForBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance5-8 years of accounting experience, ideally with time spent at a startup or high-growth companyCPA requiredStrong QuickBooks proficiencyAdvanced Excel skillsSolid understanding of payroll accounting (journal entries, not processing)Ability to read and analyze financial statements fluently (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)A hands-on mentality: you're not above doing journal entries and you're comfortable being both the doer and the decision-makerHighly detail-oriented with a habit of catching things others missProactive communicator who manages up, meets deadlines, and isn't afraid to be persistent when they need something
