This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Substitute custodians assist with daily cleaning tasks, light maintenance, and building upkeep across classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.Key ResponsibilitiesClean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areasSweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned spacesEmpty trash and recycling containers and replace linersAssist with cafeteria cleanup, including wiping tables and maintaining floorsPerform light maintenance tasks such as replacing bulbs or restocking suppliesSet up or break down rooms for events or activities as neededEnsure safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipmentReport maintenance issues, safety concerns, or damages to supervisorsFollow district cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and schedulesWork collaboratively with custodial staff and school personnelRequired QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderClean criminal background checksAbility to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing, and moving equipmentStrong attention to detail xevrcyc and commitment to cleanlinessDependability, punctuality, and professionalismAbility to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a teamAdherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio EducatorsPreferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrevious custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experienceFamiliarity with cleaning equipment and safe chemical handlingExperience working in school or institutional settings
