Staff Accountant, Tax - Hybrid Schedule
The Staff Accountant, Tax is responsible for account general ledger reconciliations and tax administration and return preparation for motor fuel taxes and sales and use taxes.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger Account Reconciliation Reconcile general ledger accounts in a timely and accurate manner Utilize excel to complete detailed analysis of general ledger accounts Tax Administration Return Preparation Research and Document Taxability in various states Gather and Document necessary exemption requirements Staying abreast of tax law changes and understanding the impact on the company Set up New Taxes in billing system as needed Set up and document the process for setting up the taxability of customers Learn and understand Both US and Canadian tax laws and reporting standards Gather exemption documentation Assist with the on boarding process to ensure accurate billing of taxes. Prepare tax returns in a timely and accurate manner Position RequirementsOther Duties as AssignedFormal Education & CertificationBachelor’s degree in Accounting required Knowledge & ExperienceOne+ years of experience in financial accounting desiredThorough knowledge of General Ledger and ReconciliationsProficient use of Advanced Microsoft Excel – vlookups / xlookups and pivot tables requiredPetroleum experience preferredQualifications & CharacteristicsAbility to multi-taskDetail orientedTime and task management skills essentialAbility to work effectively with minimum supervision to meet deadlinesWork EnvironmentHybrid work environment available once training is completed – 3 days in the office, 2 days remoteSitting for extended periods of timeDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer componentsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
