The technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This includes polysomnography, diagnostic, therapeutic services, and education. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of professional and courteous patient care. Has the ability to complete administrative tasks as well as technical duties. Will know established policies and procedures and be willing and able to assist in development and/ or modification.Gather & review patient information -histories, medications, procedure request and study protocolExplain procedures and orient patient to sleep labPrepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessaryPerform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fittingFollow procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc. to ensure collection of appropriate dataFollow "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline valuesPerform polysomnographic data acquisitionDocument routine observationsImplement appropriate interventionsFollow "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection processAssist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical eventsGenerate accurate reportsComply with applicable laws, regulations & guidelinesPerform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluationsAll other duties as assignedQualificationsSuccessful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program leading to an associate's degree with emphasis on polysomnographySuccessful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program with emphasis on polysomnography or completion of ASTEP ProgramRegistered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required OR Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) upon hire with RPSGT obtained within 6 months of hireBLS certification requiredA minimum of 3 years experience as a Polysomnographic Technician preferred.New grads open to apply!The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $22.00-33.35, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
