LIBRARY SPECIALIST- SUBSTITUTE (PT/Variable Hour)

Job SummaryThe Substitute Library Specialist provides staff support for general circulation. This includes duties related to the circulation of library materials, greeting and assisting patrons with requests as well as checking in and out of library materials. The Substitute Library Specialist is a public service position that provides coverage for staffing the library when regular staff members are not available and may include last minute and emergency coverage of shifts.Typical DutiesProvides excellent customer engagement at various service desks; this includes circulating library materials and working with the library’s computers and software for circulation, issuing library cards, enforcing policies and procedures, answering reference questions, answering phone calls, troubleshooting patron computer issues and other tech issues, providing readers’ advisory, promoting library events, etc.Fills in as needed on library programs.Opening and closing the library.Other library duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge and experience with computers and technology. Strong customer engagement skills.Working ConditionsThe employee must occasionally lift more than 30 pounds and push/pull a cart with up to 100 pounds of books, supplies, and equipment.
